Methionine is an essential amino acid. Because methionine cannot be made in the body, it must be obtained from food. All amino acids work together to form proteins that serve many biological and biochemical functions in the body. Methionine is also used with natural remedies for depression and the elimination of toxins.

Advantage of the product: When methionine combines with ATP in the liver, S-adenosyl methionine (SAMe) forms. SAMe is known to be a natural antidepressant and has enjoyed popularity as such in Europe. If the body does not produce enough SAMe, depression may ensue, according to some researchers.
