Lugol is marketed as an aqueous solution with a 5% 15% iodine concentration. Lugol's 5% solution is the most common. The percentage indicates the concentration of iodine.

It was first prepared in 1829 and was named after the French physician Jean Guillaume Auguste Lugol (1788–1851) who suggested its use in the treatment of tuberculosis.

Iodine is widely used in medicine as an antiseptic. It adheres to the pathogenic bacterium by killing it.

Dr Clark often recommends the use of Lugol iodine for an antiseptic. The Lugol Iodine solution is old-fashioned iodine, iodine has one particularity, it clings to everything.

In fact, it attaches itself so quickly that one considers that everything that it touches is full of it. The amount used is immediately captured by the body on the mucous membranes and cannot be absorbed by the blood and other organs.

Iodine remains in the stomach and for this reason it is of real use, for the elimination of bacteria.

Iodine has extrathyroid functions and plays an important role in the proper functioning of many organs such as the prostate or the brain. Iodine is studied for its protective action of the breast and in the prevention of fibrotic diseases in women.

Every 17 minutes, all the blood in the body passes through the thyroid gland.

Because the cells that make up this gland have an affinity for iodine, each cycle of blood passing through the gland is subjected to secracies of iodine, killing the germs that entered the body through the digestive tract, through the nasal duct or by wounds.
