What is CoQ10?
An enzyme is a chemical component that assists the body's metabolic processes. A Co-enzyme is able to bind with other, different enzymes, to help them do their job. One of the Co-enzymes present in every cell is Co-enzyme Q10. It plays an important role in our cells' energy and respiration systems, and is an excellent antioxidant.
In cells, Co-Q10 is concentrated in the energy-producing units known as mitochondria. Respiration (the Krebs Cycle) takes place in the mitochondria, a process in which glucose and oxygen are converted into vital energy (ATP) and carbon dioxide. CoQ10's job is to transport the electrons needed to make the mitochondria do their job.
Antioxidant properties
Supports cardiovascular health
Promotes energy production
Coenzyme Q10 (Co Q10) is produced by the human body and is necessary for basic cellular function.
Co Q10 is a fat-soluble, vitamin-like substance found in almost every cell of the body. Co Q10 is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants combat harmful particles in the body called free radicals, which damage cell membranes, contribute to oxidative stress and contribute to the aging process.
Co Q10 also helps to recycle vitamins C and E and renew their antioxidant proprieties.
Co Q10 plays a crucial role in the chemical reactions that convert nutrients into energy within cells*.
When can CoQ10 be useful?
Since Co-Q10 is vital for energy production, and the heart needs a lot of it, Co-Q10 is found in the heart in large quantities. Japanese research has shown that CoQ10 is a highly effective dietary supplement with a range of cardiovascular benefits.
