Historical uses
The lapacho is a tree found in the jungle of South America. It is the only tree in these regions that is completely immune to infections from fungi. It is known to increase the physiological resistance of the body.
The inner bark of the Tabebuia avellaneda tree, is native to Brazil, where it is traditionally used to relieve the discomfort of arthritis, and to support the body's natural tendency to resist inflammation of the prostate. Traditional healers also use this plant in nutritional support therapy in minor cases of dysentery, and soothe the discomfort caused by bolts and ulcers.
In the Western world, Pau d'Arco is used by modern herbalists to support a healthy internal environment for the different types of undesirable organisms found, among others, in the vagina. Pau d'Arco has been shown to be one of the best products against mycotic infections. This multipurpose plant can reinforce the body's natural tendency to get rid of minor problems such as athlete's foot and yeast infections.
Lapacho compounds
Pau d'Arco contains three anti-yeast compounds: lapachol, lapachone beta-et-xyloidine which have shown their efficacy against Candida albicans and other mycoses. The Pau d'Arco ... is called the "divine tree".
It is useful in problems of rheumatism, inflammation arthriticism, prostatitis, cystitis, and is also beneficial for the elimination of fungi and the proliferation of yeasts in the body.
